Elemental Incantation for Balance
Within Wicca, each of the four traditional elements (earth, wind, fire, water) are associated with unique meanings and energies. When taken together, these elemental correspondences complement one another to create a unified field of meaning.
I’ve created the following elemental incantation for those times when everything feels off-kilter and out of whack.
The words of this prayer reference the unique and complementary energies of the traditional elements that will help you to re-ground your thoughts and re-center your spirit–hopefully providing you some clarity and stability in the process!
Items needed:
- Incense (optional)
- Bowl of water (optional)
- 1 stone (optional)
- 1 candle (optional)
- Lighter or matches (optional)
If you’re using the optional items, arrange them in front of you, either corresponding to the four cardinal directions or simply in a row. Light the candle and incense after they have been arranged.
The prayer is as follows:
“I raise this elemental prayer
That they may strengthen me
Each bears a special power
That join in unity
Broad earth, you’re strong and able
With you I’m firmly ground
Though the world must rage and cry
Your stability abounds
In water there is energy
A flowing, forward force
That I could drink the hallowed cup
That keeps me on my course
Bright fire, mix of clashing wills
You burn and warm alike
Sear away the phantom fears
Illuminate the right
Air above me, flowing free
I heed your zephyr call
Lift my spirit on your wings
That naught can make me fall
Earth and water, fire, air
Join yourselves to me
Perfect balance, perfect calm
And perfect blessings be”
